One of the things you have to do in Bogota is to visit Andrew. If you want to save the trip to the outskirts, Andres DC is the best solution. I´m tempted to say that is a smaller version of another place but that would imply that this is small, and has five floors that are immense and hundreds (yes, hundreds) of employees. The atmosphere, without being as unique as that of its older brother, is magical. There is live music and the service is excellent. The food (especially the meat) is spectacular.
There is a Colombian chain that´s very successful, extended throughout the whole country that offers, at good prices, sweet and savory crepes, pita sandwiches, salads, and a selection of ice creams that are perfect for a healthy meal and also flavorful.
Amazing! The place is one of a kind. A definite must see when in Bogota. The ambience is great for family time and partying depending on the time of day. Order “lomo al trapo” and “arepa de chocolo” you really wont regret it. Plus, stay the night to actually do some partying.
It is an Italian style restaurant, located in the gastronomic area of Bogota. It has a relaxed and friendly environment where they serve simple dishes that are of excellent quality. The prices are on average $ 18,000 and dishes can be accompanied by fine wines.
I loved this bakery. They have several stores in Bogota, offering delicious breakfasts, and afternoon coffees. There are several types of bread you can choose from, and they make freshly squeezed tangerine juice for $5.00.
With nearly 200 years of history, La Puerta Falsa is a local institution in La Candelaria. It specializes in tamales which the locals say are the best in Bogota. The chocolate is also highly-recommended, and there are famous sweets like coconut candies. Very cheap and satisfying!
Located in zone G, or better known as the Gourmet area on Calle 70, this is a good spot to have a great burger. I had heard that the Colombian meat was very good and I think that it was worth it. The restaurant is very nice, with good service and with an excellent quality of food. For someone ve doesn´t know the Gourmet zone, I think it is a good place to eat, with a good ambient and a great variety of restaurants.
The night we went to this restaurant was the "big night out" of our trip, as it was the only day we actually fixed ourselves up for dinner (ha). We went to Juan del Mar, which specializes in fish, I tell you that because it's in the same place as San Diego (where the Sofitel Santa Clara is). It's a Peruvian food restaurant and a pizza place all by the same owner. They've got really excellent food and service, the prices are too high for Colombia and for my taste. The service is impeccable and very attentive. The place is an old restored house, we ate in the courtyard where there's an old cistern. Art abounds in the decor, there is a collection of metal fish hanging above the tank and the roof. Everything between pictures and a mermaid. The icing on the cake was a group of musicians playing some songs from Buena Vista Social Club, among others.
The Wok is an asian restaurant chain with a good relation of quality to price and a very varied menu that includes tempuras, satays, ceviches, carpaccios, a wok, sushi, curries, sashimi, makes, and a big variety of desserts. I would recommend the bananas in tempura.
Hard Rock Cafe Cartagena is a rock-themed restaurant located in Plaza de la Aduana. You can come here to listen to good music and enjoy some truly phenomenal cocktails. The atmosphere is fantastic on the weekends and on Saturdays you can see the rock band Subterfuge play live. The building consists of two floors, which are decorated with guitars, costumes and autographed portraits of musicians. I personally prefer the second floor, which is a bit livelier. The food isn't great, and to be honest the dishes are a bit expensive compared to other restaurants of comparable quality. I don't recommend coming on a Thursday, which is karaoke night. You can also visit the Rock Shop souvenir store, where you can find some interesting mementos.Oh, and by the way, some of the waiters and waitresses are very cute!
Le Bistro Restaurant is a restaurant with high quality music, from blues to tango, offering a varied menu ranging from sandwiches to more sophisticated dishes such as steak tartare, which I tried, and it was very tasty. For dessert I ordered an apple crisp that was very good. The mojito with ginger was also of high standards. From 5-7 pm they have cocktails and wines on deal for 2x1, and a full meal costs about € 20.
I found this restaurant in 2011 where I had lunch twice, everything was great except for some ghost customer ve insisted on drawing attention to himself, I returned in May 2012, and more ghosts had been raised, the service lamentable... They served us the second course but forgot to serve the first. A meal in this environment can never be satisfactory. Dispensable. Furthermore, this restaurant is no longer in the Alley Vargas, it's on Ayos Street, in the center.
The Rancherito restaurant has several locations in the region of Antioquia, one located in the Las Palmas neighbourhood of Medellin. It has a diverse menu that offers the traditional and hearty food, that is customary to eat in the region. If you visit Medellin, you should go to this place several times to explore the diverse menu. A Rancherito breakfast is enough to withstand walking tours for the day, and also is quieter in the morning, so you can secure a table more easily.
The restaurant Pescadero Benjamin Bohorquez has two establishments in the city, one in Luna Park and another in Peppermint. It is one of the most traditional restaurants, with over 65 years experience and it specializes in seafood. Some of their dishes are: seafood casserole, shrimp carbonara, shrimp santafereños, trout prepared in various ways, and even paella. The portions are very big. It also has something very interesting about it: is a themed restaurant because every time there is a national holiday the waiters are dressed according to that holiday, and they even make special gastronomic and animation programs to spread the local culture. It has private parking, WiFi and even a playground for children. The LunaPark local is open daily from 11.30am to 9pm. Yerbabuena is only open on the weekends.
You must visit the mythical European literary cafe named, the Cave, in the busy city of Barranquilla. Every time I visit Colombia I must stop at this oasis. You can meet the artists of the Group of Barranquilla, led by Gabriel García Márquez, then abandoned and happily recovered in 2002 and not only as a museum tributed to the artists, but as a reference in the kitchen Barranquilla. A kitchen with fresh ingredients and a touch of fusion to form a modern classic in the capital of the Magdalena River at good prices. Do not be surprised if you come across a film screening, a short story competition, or carnival arts (oral and intangible heritage of humanity) if you are lucky and visit the city at that time or a gathering paired with a long list of cocktails with funny and suggestive titles. And if you get lost, follow the footprints of the elephant ...
Visit Antique is drinking a tasty glass of wine in front of its fireplaces and enjoying good live music. Tastyu food ay affordable prices and great variety. When you visit do not forget to go Antique in good company, bring a camera, because it's worth bringing back memories of its beautiful decoration and terrace and most importantly be prepared to have some days and / or nights that are unforgettable.
Located in the heart of Loma de la Cruz, at the end of San Antonio neighborhood, this small family restaurant is where you can have a very good fresh lunch in the dining room, or on a makeshift terrace in the shadow of the tall trees that surround the small place. However, the specialty is the grill. I recommend it for a tasty lunch, and a good nap afterwards.
The El Patio restaurant and bar is located in one of the best parts of Medellin. From Thursday to Saturday, it offers karaoke music, and is an ideal place to test the cocktails and exquisite micheladas. Its' menu explores Mexican cuisine and is best enjoyed on the terrace, where you have an excellent view of the city.
